Jotun's Bane Kindred

Jotun's Bane Kindred is based in the Kansas City Area.  Our purpose is to further the study and practice of the religious, spiritual, and philosophical beliefs and practices of Heathenry.  We honor the Northern Gods, our Ancestors, and the Vaettir...

Jotun's Bane Kindred currently has 13 adult members, 9 of which are oathed members.  Including children who are regularly in attendance, we number 20 people.  We are an enormously active and well-organized kindred.  We travel throughout the Heartland of our country, gathering with and getting to know other Midwest Heathens.

Our kindred is named for "Jotun's Bane," the brass kindred hammer made by kindred-member Craig Winkler.  "Jotun's Bane" was a kenning (or poetic phrase) that represented Mjolnir, or Thor's Hammer.  Craig also made both daily-wear and formal kindred hammers that kindred members wear around their neck.

Every year, in September, Jotun's Bane Kindred hosts Lightning Across the Plains, one of the largest heathen gatherings in the world.  LATP 2010 was attended by 240 Asatruars and Heathens, and 70 of those were children!  Jotun's Bane Kindred also built and maintains the Temple of Our Heathen Gods resource website for all Asatruars, Odinists, and Heathens.

The membership of Jotun's Bane Kindred is a strong and vibrant group of loyal and honorable Heathens, some oathed, some applicants, and some prospects.
